TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES
TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW
Magna Carto is the latest tournament of the JBR_AOE Discord, sponsored by Magna Creative - Content Creation Specialists. There will be an initial prizepool of US$250.
The tournament will be played on the Empire Wars gamemode and using the Red Bull Wololo: Legacy maps. The tournament is intended for players of all levels to experience tournament settings and practise with different civilisations within a competitive environment. This is a chance for players of all levels to experience the RBWL maps for themselves.

The tournament will provide opportunities for most players to compete against others of a similar level.
All information relating to the tournament will be posted here. It is a condition of entry into the tournament that all players join the Discord as notifications about the tournament will be posted there. To join the Discord, click on this link: https://discord.gg/bTuCp3e.

FORMAT
The group stage will usually consist of groups of 4 players in a round robin format (meaning each player in the tournament will be guaranteed 3 matches). The top 2 players from each group will progress to a knock out round. Games in the group stage will be a ‘play all 3’ format. Players will be awarded 1 point per game won, plus 1 point for winning the set. E.g winning a set 2-1 will grant the player 3 points and their opponent 1 point. Winning a set 3-0 will grant 4 points, with none for the loser.
Games in the knockout stage will be a best of 5 with the final a best of 7.
SEEDING
We recognise that Empire Wars is a different format to Random Map however most players are less active on the EW ladder making it difficult to utilise for seeding. Players will therefore be seeded based on their 1v1 RM rating. It will be calculated by using an average of their current and highest rating (as of Monday 22nd August). A minimum of 10 ranked 1v1 ladder matches are required to be eligible, with at least one played in the last 28 days (exceptions may be made if the player is known to the mods – to ensure a fair understanding of which level they should be placed in).
SCHEDULE
Players are required to schedule to play a minimum of 1 match per week while they are participating in the tournament.

Players are to organise between themselves what time they are going to play each week.

If a player fails to show up to a game within 20 minutes of the designated start time, it will result in an automatic loss.

If a player cancels an agreed upon time and an alternative time cannot be arranged, then they will be given an admin loss. However, the tournament is designed for practice and fun so every effort should be made to reschedule.

Players need to post the result and recorded game files in the relevant section of the Discord after the matches.

You are welcome to play games out of the order and dates listed but please be proactive with scheduling with your opponent. Every effort should be made to play the sets if possible.

All group games MUST be finished by 25th September. Any issues please contact a tournament admin.
